The mighty Badgers roll on for another week, with out third clean sheet in a row, but boy do we make it hard for ourselves.
0-0 at half time, and really a pretty even game, it was all to play for in the second half. My main concern at half time was the fact that we were getting pretty good ball on at least 4 occasions right into the 6 yard box and there wasn’t anyone there to get it. Seriously with the quality of the ball coming in, if there had been people there we would have been 3-4 nil up at the break.
Still something clicked, and the only other concern I had, was the intensity and ability to win 50/50 ball, but that was lifted immediately and we scored 90 seconds into the second half. The ball was played into the box, Nick Roach was there, and although it took a deflection, Nick had to retreat and take the ball from behind him (which normally results in a shot being pulled miserably wide), and placed a beautiful shot in bottom left side of the goal. Great goal and a fantastic way to start the second half.
To tell the truth the rest was a bit of a blur as I was ref and getting stick for a couple of rulings.
Hand Ball Rule: The hand must intentionally touch the ball, or in other words it must be hand to ball, not ball to hand. If the hand unfairly impeeds the progress of play, then it is a free kick, but if the ball rebounds or is blasted into the hand which is by the body of a player it is play on.
I possibly did get the tackle from the side wrong, but what the hey, it is 4th grade football. Turns out, even if the player does get the ball off a guy, if the player then fouls the guy it is still a free kick. Life goes on.
Cheers Redemption for a good game of football and for the fruit at half time, much appreciated.
My man of the match has been in great form of late, Sam F has added more to the team when he’s on the field than most, and in more ways than just with the ball. His ability to talk non stop is a valuable asset on any field. But he was hungry for the ball today and won more 50/50 ball than most and he only played half a game having reffed the first half.
I gave the 2 points to Robert, for a great game of running and the 1 point to out fill in player Matt in central defence. To that though, once again thanks to that defence, you are the solid rock that this teams continuing success is built. James thanks for filling in for us in goal.
Well done guys, train hard this week and lets see if we can convert some of these opportunities into more goals.
hey, whats happened to the sweet updates?
